Good graphic design is not decoration. It is communication. The way your materials look shapes how people perceive your business before a single word is read, and every touchpoint is an opportunity to reinforce your brand or undermine it.
At Howl & Bray, we create design work that is clear, considered and commercially minded. Whether you need a one-off piece or a steady flow of creative across multiple formats and channels, we bring the same level of craft and attention to every project. No templates, no shortcuts, just well-thought-through design that reflects your brand and connects with your audience.
Many of our clients use us as an extension of their own team, calling on us for graphic design work as and when it is needed rather than maintaining an in-house designer. It is a flexible, cost-effective way to access senior design thinking without the overhead.
Our Graphic Design Capabilities
Whether it is a single asset or a suite of materials across multiple formats, we follow the same clear process on every project. It keeps things efficient, avoids unnecessary back and forth and means the work lands well first time.
Every project starts with a clear brief. We take time to understand what the piece needs to do, who it is for, where it will be used and what impression it needs to leave. The more we understand at the start, the less time is wasted later. For larger or more complex projects, we will ask questions and push back on assumptions to make sure the brief is genuinely fit for purpose before design begins.
For projects with creative latitude, we explore initial directions before committing to a single route. This might be two or three different approaches to layout, tone or visual style, presented for your feedback. It is a quick stage but an important one. Getting alignment on direction early prevents costly changes later and means the final design has been arrived at deliberately, not by accident.
With direction agreed, we move into full design. Every element is considered: typography, colour, imagery, hierarchy, white space and how the piece works at the size and format it will actually be used. You will see designs at key stages and have the chance to review and feed back before we refine and finalise.
We build a round of amends into every project. Once you have reviewed the designs, we incorporate your feedback and refine until you are completely happy. Nothing is delivered or published without your sign off. If a project requires more rounds of amends than originally scoped, we will always flag this and discuss it with you before proceeding.
Final files are prepared and supplied in whatever formats you need, whether that is print-ready PDFs, web-optimised images, editable source files or assets sized for specific platforms and uses. We make sure you have everything you need to use the work properly, and we are always happy to supply additional formats or sizes after delivery if something new comes up.
Many of our clients work with us on a retainer or ad hoc basis, coming back for new assets, seasonal campaigns, updated materials or reactive design work as their business evolves. If you have a regular volume of design work, a retainer arrangement gives you priority access, a consistent creative relationship and better value than one-off project pricing. We are happy to discuss what would work best for your situation.
Everything we design is produced within your existing brand guidelines, ensuring consistency across all your materials whether they are produced by us, printed externally or updated in-house. If you do not yet have brand guidelines, we can work from your existing visual assets and help formalise them as part of the project.
We are fluent in both print and digital, understanding the technical differences between the two and making sure files are prepared correctly for their intended use. If a piece needs to work across both formats, we handle both without treating either as an afterthought.
Here is a selection of graphic design work we have produced for clients across a range of sectors and formats.
We use Howl & Bray for all our ongoing design work and it has made a real difference having a team that understands our brand and can turn things around quickly. The quality is consistently high and the process is always straightforward.
If you’re thinking about a new brand identity, you probably have questions. Here are answers to the ones we’re asked most often.
We handle a wide range of design work, from individual assets like posters, social graphics and email templates through to larger campaign projects spanning multiple formats. If you are not sure whether your project is something we cover, just get in touch and we will let you know.
Yes. We are equally comfortable designing for print and digital and we understand the technical differences between the two, including colour profiles, resolution, bleed and file preparation. If a piece needs to work across both, we make sure it does.
Absolutely. We regularly create editable design templates in Canva, Adobe Express or other tools so your team can produce consistent, on-brand content without needing a designer for every post or document. It is a practical solution for businesses that produce a high volume of repeating content.
We can work with what you have and help bring more consistency to your materials over time. If you are ready to establish a proper visual identity from scratch, our brand identity service covers that as a separate piece of work.
We build a clear round of revisions into every project scope. We find that with a good brief and open communication upfront, most projects come together smoothly. We will always make sure you are happy with the result before anything is signed off or delivered.
Where we can, yes. If you have an urgent requirement, let us know upfront and we will do our best to accommodate it. We would always rather know about a deadline at the start of a project than halfway through.
Cost varies depending on the scope, complexity and volume of work involved. For one-off projects we provide a fixed quote before any work begins. For ongoing work, a retainer arrangement is often more cost effective. Get in touch and we will give you a clear, no-obligation estimate.
It starts with a conversation. We’ll talk through your goals, challenges, and ideas before recommending the best approach. There’s no obligation, just clear advice and honest guidance.
If your wider brand identity, print materials or digital presence need attention alongside your graphic design work, we can help with all of it.
