In a world where most communication happens on a screen, a well-designed brochure still carries real weight. It’s considered, tangible and leaves an impression that an email or a web page simply cannot replicate. When someone holds something beautifully printed, they hold a piece of your brand.
At Howl & Bray, we design brochures and print collateral that feel as good as they look. Whether you need a detailed product catalogue, a capabilities brochure to leave with prospective clients, an event programme or a simple folded leaflet, we bring the same level of craft and attention to every project.
We work with businesses across Hertfordshire, the West Midlands and the wider UK, producing print and digital materials that communicate clearly, reflect your brand and make the right impression.
Our Brochure & Print Design Capabilities
A good brochure starts long before anyone opens a design tool. We follow a clear, collaborative process that makes sure the final piece works hard for your business, not just looks good on the day it arrives.
Every project starts with a conversation. We take time to understand what the brochure needs to do, who it’s for, how it will be used and what impression it needs to leave. A clear brief makes everything that follows smoother, quicker and more likely to hit the mark first time.
Before design begins, we work out the structure of the piece. How many pages, what sections, how the content flows from one spread to the next. If you already have copy, we’ll review it and advise on any changes. If you need content written, we can connect you with a copywriter or advise on what’s needed. Getting the structure right at this stage saves time and avoids costly changes later.
With structure agreed and content in place, we move into design. Working within your brand guidelines, we create layouts that are clear, considered and visually engaging. Typography, imagery, colour and white space are all used with purpose. You’ll see designs at key stages, giving you the chance to review and feed back before we move forward.
We build a clear round of amends into every project. Once you’ve reviewed the designs, we incorporate your feedback and refine until you’re completely happy. Nothing goes to print or final delivery without your written sign off, so you always have full control over the final result.
If you need physical copies, we can manage print production on your behalf. We work with trusted print suppliers to advise on paper stocks, finishes, quantities and lead times, and we handle the file preparation and proofing process so you don’t have to. Alternatively, if you have your own supplier, we’ll prepare and supply print-ready files to whatever specification is needed.
Most brochures benefit from a digital version alongside the printed piece. We produce screen-optimised PDF versions that can be shared by email, downloaded from your website or used in presentations, designed to look great on screen as well as in print. Both versions are handled together as part of the project so nothing is an afterthought.
The biggest mistake in brochure design is treating print and digital as two separate jobs. We approach both at the same time, making sure colour, imagery and layout work correctly across formats without compromise. Print files are prepared to the right specifications and digital versions are optimised for fast loading and clear reading on any device.
If you need ongoing design support beyond a single project, we are happy to discuss a retainer arrangement. Many of our clients use us as an extension of their own team, calling on us for seasonal brochures, campaign materials and updated collateral as their business grows.
From seasonal menus and table cards to promotional flyers and event materials, print plays a particularly important role in hospitality. We have hands-on experience working with restaurants, cafes and hospitality businesses to produce materials that feel on-brand, print reliably and stand up to the demands of a busy environment. Whether you need a quick run of updated menus or a full suite of materials for a new opening, we understand what works in this sector and can turn things around to the timescales that hospitality demands.
Every brochure we design starts with understanding the business and audience behind it. Here is a selection of recent work.
We needed a brochure quickly and to a high standard. Howl & Bray delivered both. The process was straightforward, the communication was excellent and the finished piece has had a really positive response from our clients.
If you’re thinking about a new brand identity, you probably have questions. Here are answers to the ones we’re asked most often.
We can work with copy you have already written, review and advise on structure, or connect you with a trusted copywriter if you need content created from scratch. We will always let you know the best approach for your project.
Timelines vary depending on the size and complexity of the project and how quickly content and feedback are provided. A straightforward leaflet can be turned around in one to two weeks. A detailed multi-page brochure will typically take four to six weeks. We agree a clear timeline at the start of every project.
Yes, and that is exactly how it should work. We design everything within your existing brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all your materials. If your guidelines need updating, or you do not yet have any, we can help with that as part of the project or as a separate piece of work.
We can manage print production on your behalf if that would be helpful, working with trusted suppliers on paper stocks, finishes, quantities and delivery. Or we can simply supply print-ready files if you have your own supplier. Either way works for us.
Yes, and we would always recommend it. We produce screen-optimised digital PDF versions alongside the printed piece as standard, so you can share the brochure by email or make it available to download from your website without any additional design work.
You will receive all final files on completion of the project. For print this typically means a high-resolution PDF prepared to your printer’s specification. For digital use you will receive a compressed, screen-optimised PDF. We can also supply editable source files if needed, which we would discuss and agree at the briefing stage.
Cost depends on the number of pages, the complexity of the design and whether print management or copywriting is involved. We do not publish a fixed price list, but we are always clear about costs before any work begins. Get in touch and we will give you a straightforward, no-obligation estimate.
It starts with a conversation. We’ll talk through your goals, challenges, and ideas before recommending the best approach. There’s no obligation, just clear advice and honest guidance.
If you are investing in print materials, it is worth making sure your brand identity and digital presence are working just as hard. We can help with all of it.
